About The Author
Affectionately known as MedicineMan2, Etienne Asbury Ferry brings a lifetime of service, healing, and leadership to every page of Chair Yoga for Seniors. Raised in a close-knit manufacturing community, Etienne was instilled with strong values, discipline, and compassion by his devoted parents and surrounded by the spirited energy of three sisters. His early years were marked by activity and curiosity, balancing a paper route at age nine with baseball, swimming, and leadership in the 4-H Program.
These formative experiences laid the groundwork for an extraordinary journey in both military and holistic health services. As a Citizen Soldier, Etienne served with distinction in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. His diverse roles spanned Field Artillery, Signal, and Medical Units, including commanding a 1,000-bed general hospital and instructing future officers through ROTC. His extensive military medical background gives him a deep understanding of physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and patient-centered care.
His passion for healing extended beyond conventional medicine. Etienne earned international recognition from the Touch for Health Kinesiology Association for his pioneering work in muscle testing, postural balance, and mind-body wellness practices that now form the heart of his chair yoga teachings.
A lifelong learner and collector, Etienne’s early love for coins and stamps, sparked by his mother, blossomed into a deep appreciation for culture and history. Though many of his artifacts have since been sold, his dedication to learning, teaching, and serving others remains as vibrant as ever.
Today, he shares his wisdom with seniors across the world, helping others age with grace, strength, and renewed purpose.
